Centro Urbano Presidente Alemán (CUPA) is a modernist housing complex built in Mexico City in 1949. This project focuses its intervention on the existing fence surrounding the entire boundary of the complex. The fence is an abrupt barrier and the site needs a better transition between public and private.
This project studies and proposes a new condition on the edges of the site that create everchanging thresholds that start to identify ways to merge and also accommodate this connection between public street life and a residential housing complex. The overall strategies involve a combination of spatial methods such as landscaping, hardscaping, canopies, and programmed areas of activity to create new spatial conditions.

The study of the barrier was organized into four categories:
1. building to corner
2. building to street
3. park to street
4. betweeen buildings
